“Quattro leggii di ferro. Quattro serie di disegni di numero variabile da sfogliare come un libro.
Il disegno si avvicina alla scrittura. E’ un’esigenza che scaturisce dal recupero di una lettura più intima delle cose. Cosa può significare un disegno appeso ad un muro in un mondo diventato sempre più oculocentrico? Di fronte a un mondo nel quale l’immagine è diventata tutto e l’occhio, amplificato dalla tecnologia, ci permette di entrare dovunque?
Meglio offrire i miei disegni in una forma che è quella del rapporto lettore – autore, in una forma che consente di sentirne l’odore, la fragilità, il tempo che li ha fatti nascere. Briciole di esistenza nel grande mare del senso della vita.
Quattro leggii e quattro serie di disegni per quattro temi per me fondamentali:
L’ISOLA è il paesaggio, la natura. In questo caso l’isola di Stromboli a me particolarmente cara.
L’AUTORITRATTO, tema che nel tempo tutti gli artisti hanno affrontato, un modo per guardarsi dentro, per cercare un senso.
IL CORPO, in questo caso un’estensione impietosa che mi consente di indagare con disincanto alle trasformazioni avvenute.
Ed infine GLI ALTRI, spesso persone a me care e tra esse artisti che ho frequentato, alcuni scomparsi da poco, come Jannis Kounellis, altri vivi e vitalissimi, altri solo maestri ideali.
Il ferro che li sostiene è l’elemento del contrasto, dell’ambiguità, peso contro la leggerezza della carta e del segno.

LOOKING CLOSELY
Four iron bookstands. Four series of drawings in a variable number to be leafed through like books.
Drawing moves close to writing. It is a need that arises from the return to a more intimate reading of things. What could a drawing hanged on a wall mean in a world that is more and more eye-centred? In a world in which image has become everything and the eye, amplified by technology, allows us to enter everywhere? I would rather offer my drawings in a form that entails the reader-author relation, in a form that allows to perceive their smell, their fragility, the time that gave birth to them. Crumbs of existence in the big sea of the meaning of life.
Four bookstands and four series of drawings for four topics that are essential to me:
THE ISLAND is landscape, nature. In this case it is Stromboli island, which is particularly dear to me.
THE SELF-PORTRAIT, a topic that all artists have faced, a way to look into one’s self, to find a meaning.
THE BODY, in this case a ruthless extension that allows me to investigate with disillusion the undergone transformations.
And lastly THE OTHERS, often my loved ones, and among those the artists I have been meeting, some recently passed away - like Jannis Kounellis - some living and lively, others merely ideal masters. The iron support is the contrasting element, the ambiguity, weight against the lightness of paper and mark.
